Imagine becoming the drummer you always wanted ...

The best way to move forward with your drum playing is to work with a teacher with a proven track record of helping people to reach their drum playing goals who with teach you and develop your playing so that you are able to play the drums the way you want to in the shortest amount of time.

“ I have gone from knowing a few basic grooves to playing with a 30 piece drum-band in months, brilliant ! I started to learn the drums out of a book but after a few weeks I realised that I needed some proffesional help and contacted AD . The way AD teaches is with lots of patience and you learn what you need to progress. He has been an inspiration to myself .

Working with a teacher is the fastest, most effective and the most enjoyable way of progressing on your drums to be the player you want to be. Here's why:
1. Learning To Play The Right Things At The Right Time.
The problem with learning from the internet or from friends is that you may be learning the right content but are you learning the information in the correct order ? Imagine learning to run before you can walk. How far would you actually get ? Learning with a great drum teacher will help you to learn in the right way so that you waste no time and reach your goals much faster than with other methods.
2. See What You Are Learning Demonstrated For You In The Correct Way.
Does learning from You Tube really show you how things are done ? How do you know that the person sat in front of you actually knows what they are doing ? In addition if you learn from a book or from an online course, how do you ask questions if you are not sure about something ? With a great drum teacher you can be sure that if you have a problem you can get it resolved so that you can focus on enjoying your progress rather than chasing your tail wondering what you should be doing.
3. Get Motivated!
One of the biggest advantages of taking lessons from a great drum teacher is that each week you will be encouraged and inspired to seat in the drum kit or pick up your djembe and play. Knowing that you have someone to support your development and learning is the greatest asset to taking drum lessons. The expert feedback coupled with personalised support and guidance means that you simply cannot fail! Do other learning methods provide you with this?
4. Get Help With Your Practice.
Drum and Percussion lessons alone don't make you a better drummer . It's how you spend the 7 days between lessons that really counts. A great drum teacher will help you to use your time wisely, helping you to come up with an effective and personalised practice strategy for maximum results in the shortest amount of time.
5. Get Support and Guidance when you need it.
With a great teacher you will get feedback on your playing every week. In this way you will know exactly what areas you are string in and what areas you need to improve on. Because of this, regularly seeing a teacher is the best way of ensuring that you playing is on the right track and that you are moving forward and improving with your drum playing.
6. Be Around Others In the Same Situation.
How often do you make music with others? Even if you do not want to be an international rock star, playing music with other people is beneficial to your playing, builds self-confidence and is simply great fun and very rewarding. A great teacher runs jam classes, workshops and other group events designed to boost your playing whilst having fun making music with others.
7. Save TIME and MONEY.
You could spend months or even years wasting time and money on other drum learning tools such as books, DVDs or online courses and still not make much progress. There is so much information out there these days that it is very hard to find out what you should be learning to move you forward. With a good teacher you can guarantee that the information that you are given is exactly what you need, when you need it. Therefore you do not waste any time or money on ineffective methods and courses promising the ultimate short cut to great guitar playing.

“ Looking back I can see how I have progressed so much in my drum ability in several areas in a small space of time making me a far more well rounded and confident player.First of all AD is a great teacher and a great guy. I feel it is important to have a teacher that you get along with if you are having lessons every week. AD is one of those people I have enjoyed all my lessons and feel my money is well spent. He is an extremely skilled player, very knowledgable and devoted to his students. I came to AD having hit a wall in my drums playing after 3 years of playing, my improvisation and knowledge of the fret board was terrible (amongst other things). He did well to tailor the lessons to my specific needs and style for example he noticed I struggled to use the material I had learned in my own playing and so reorganised the lessons so I could improvise and play with him and the backing tracks he had created instead of taking the material home and struggling. He is constantly looking for ways like this to go the extra mile-helping you in and outside the class to ensure you progress well such as the masterclasses he frequently arranges and extra resources he often lends you. For anyone who wants to be a great drum player I would recommend AD who will put you in the right direction and ensure you progress.

There are lots of average teachers out there, here's what I do different to help you become a better drum / percussion player:
What You Can Expect From Me
How will you find out what I want to do and what I really need to progress?
A free evaluation session where we can talk about what you can and would like to be able to do. From there I can make a plan about how to best help you in the future.
How will you develop a plan for me to make sure that I can be playing the way I want to in the shortest possible time and the minimum amount of frustration?
Normal drum teachers do not normally have a long term plan for you and often teach from lesson to lesson with no effective long term strategy to help you.
Normal drum teachers will ask you a few questions about what bands you like and what songs you want to learn but usually nothing more.
From the evaluation lesson we will agree a plan of action and decide what you short and long term goals are. I will them work to develop a long term learning plan to make sure that you are always learning things that are helpful and relevant to what you need for your own personal goals.
How will you help me to overcome the problems I have with my playing?
Most normal drum teachers are not concerned with this and only teach their students songs without focusing on the core issues that are holding their playing back from their true potential.
From the first lesson I will work to solve your playing problems. In the evaluation lesson I will make sure that I take note of your problems andformulate solutions from the start to help you to overcome these. I will also monitor progress and refine the strategies if need be to help you further.
How will you record my progress?
I will keep a file on you recording what you have done and also your achievements and goals as you meet them.
How will you help me to practice effectively and make the most of my time between lessons?
First, all your lesson materials will be send to your personal e mail so that you can download them , refer back to them and review them whenever you like. In addition I will run special sessions to help you to develop a personalised practice schedule.
How can you prove that you can get good results?

"AD has an enthusiastic and infectious approach to his teaching which soon draws you in, he puts a lot into your lessons and you feel an obligation to respond in kind. Why did I choose AD as my drum teacher? When I typed "drum lessons in Haggerston" into Google his was not the first name that came up, but it was the last one of my list when I had spoken to several others. When I started playing 11 weeks ago I had never touched a drum kit or even a drum stick , but had wanted to play for years. I am now an intermediate player who has mastered all the paradiddles and some double paradiddles , can play a decent range of songs and have moved onto soloing in group lessons. If you had asked me in late September if I would be playing Muse numbers to my friends , I would have though you were mad. I put this down to a combination of AD's teaching methods and many hours of practice under his guidance. But the best thing about AD's teaching method is that he does not belong to the "those who can't, teach" group of coaches, he is a practitioner, played live, been in bands and has been there and done that. That it what I want from a teacher.

“I have been a student of Agelis for several years now. During that time I have advanced my playing and musical skills to a level I could never have imagined when I first began playing. I am also well on my way to developing the career I always dreamed about. Finally I am happy to say that I found a very good friend and mentor who is a never ending source of inspiration, motivation and wisdom for me. I am honored to know Agelis and to study with him!”
Nadia Nasro, London

“ I have known Agelis for four years. Within months I have gone from struggling with the basics to being able to put together my own grooves, playing both the darbuca and the bedir . I would recommend Agelis to anyone looking for a professional and patient tutor, his methods and pace are first class allowing you achieve the right results . He has taught me traditional percussion instruments ( toumbelek , bendir , req ). I can assure you that he is a remarkably conscientions, methodical and experienced teacher, thing that makes him precious and rare as far as the teaching of music is concerned. He is exceptionally talented and organized, with amazing knowledge both on contemporary , modern and traditional music. I must make note of Agelis' outstanding sense of rhythm and music performance.AD ia a very modest musician ( sometimes more than necessary ), who does not at all like to show off. He is a musician of unique authenticity.
